More Information on KING ABDULLAH III FROM DEERFIELD ACADEMY TO OPEN HIS OWN SCHOOL

Twenty-five years after he has graduated, King Abdullah II of Jordan, a graduate from Deerfield Academy in Massachusetts in 1980 is commissioning a coeducational boarding school in Manja, Jordan, modeled on his alma mater. The school will be called King’s Academy and will be opening sometime next fall.   Founded in 1797, Deerfield is one of the most prestigious prep schools in the country. According to its Web site, the school's mission is "to educate young people … so that they become responsible, contributing citizens and fulfilled human beings."

Abdullah is hoping to apply what he has learned through his experience at Deerfield to his own in an attempt to show that we can all get along, building a younger generation who can take over the duties of their parents but with an open mind.
