During the National High School Drill Team Championships held in Daytona Beach, Florida May 6-7, 2006, the Marmion Academy’s Flannigan Rifles JROTC Military Drill Team achieved it’s highest national ranking ever, a 4th place finish in the competition. Marmion competed against 35 other schools in the highly skilled Masters Demilitarized Arms Division. Teams entering this division compete using demilitarized nine pound rifles.   It was also the only top 10 team with no lower than a 10th place finish in any of the categories.

The National High School Drill Team Championships remain the most famous Junior ROTC military drill & ceremony competition in the world. This two day competition brings together the finest performance military drill teams from Army, Navy, Marine Corps, and Air Force JROTC programs from throughout the United States. This year 59 teams competed in three event divisions
