Townsend devotes a separate page to over 200 boarding schools that have at least 60 boarders. A few specialized (low cost, military, learning differences) and eight junior boarding schools are also listed. The address, nearest airport, information on the students, costs and financial aid, admissions, academics, facilities, miscellaneous facts, and locale are given in concise form for each school. There are also a number of lists and tables which help in narrowing the choice of possible schools: size of school, location by state, number of books in the library, total endowment, and average SAT scores.
