Woodlands Academy of the Sacred Heart

Founded in 1858, the Woodlands Academy of the Sacred Heart is an all-girls boarding and day school. They are a catholic school which accepts students with different faith. Almost one third of the students here are non-Catholics. Woodlands Academy of the Sacred Heart is primarily a day school although it has students coming in as boarding students as well. The yearly enrollment of the school is at the average of 175, where 20 of these students are boarding. This Roman Catholic school teaches girls from Grades 9-12 and the curriculum is geared a well-rounded education.

The usual student ration rate is 1:9 in terms of full time faculty members. More than 75% of the teachers have post graduate degrees. The students are not only prepared academically but physically at the same time. There are five sports programs to choose from and there are many extra curricular activities available for each student, most of them are on music, arts and the theater. There are social relevant clubs and organizations instituted in this school. In fact, all of the students record more than 6,500 hours of community service. The courses in the school are really diverse. Different kids of literature, language and sciences are only some of the things offered in this school. Their advanced placement courses are 12 and they focus mainly on languages, sciences and history.

Being admitted to the Woodlands Academy of the Sacred Heart means automatic admittance to college since 100% of the students are accepted in college. They have also developed a program that is effective in placing the students in the career paths of their choice. Admission in this school requires a good scholastic background and recommendation from teachers. Aspiring students will have to go through a series of exams where they will be tested on their mental skills. Essays and interviews are also to be expected before admission.
