Landmark
School
Landmark
School is
the one of the largest, most comprehensive boarding schools in the
U.S.,
positively changing the lives of students with language-based learning
disabilities, such as dyslexia. The school’s goal is to help students realize
their educational and social potential through an exemplary school program that
is complemented by outreach, training, and research.
Landmark
School is recognized as the
international leader in the field of learning disabilities. Since opening in
1971, the school has become a pioneer in special education, with school
programs for students in grades 2-12 and extensive professional training
offerings for educators, families, and community leaders.
Landmark
School combines diagnosis and customized
teaching programs, providing students with intensive 1-on-1 tutoring and a
strong community environment that encourages the students to take
responsibility for their own learning.
Through this intensive
education program, Landmark students overcome their learning disabilities,
discover new ways to learn and reach their own potential. As an evidence for
the success and efficiency of the school, 92 percent of Landmark graduates
attend college. Seniors in the Class of 2007 plan to attend notable schools,
including American University, Boston College, Ithaca College, and Purdue
University. 99 percent of Landmark graduates attain jobs after college and 88
percent of those that take them pass standardized state competency tests. Each
student receives a program of individualized instruction, which emphasizes the
development of language and learning skills.
The
mission of the
Landmark
School is to enable and
empower people with language-based learning disabilities (LBLD) to realize
their educational and social potential. Other than the school’s academic
programs, the Landmark School Outreach Program offers professional development
courses and seminars on-site and online as well as publications for educators,
administrators, clinicians, and parents.
