Nottingham
Academy
West
Nottingham Academy, the oldest boarding school in America, is comfortably
settled in the historic and rural territory of Cecil County, Maryland. It was
founded in 1744 and until now, it continues to carry out its tradition of
helping the youth in preparing for higher education and guiding them in
becoming responsible citizens of their nation. The school’s passion is to help
their students find their potential and to educate them in all areas. It sits quietly
in a 120-acre campus which is located about an hour away from
Baltimore
and
Philadelphia.
The 20-acre woodland within the campus displays the broad lawns which serve as
the domain of unusual variety of trees.
The
academy’s educational philosophy is deeply and firmly established in a
commitment to inspire curiosity while helping students develop critical
thinking skills and cultivate a life-long passion for learning. At
West
Nottingham
Academy all courses of
study are regularly reviewed by the Committee for Academic Excellence (CAE).
This committee, which is chaired by the Academic Dean, works to ensure that the
WNA’s academic program remains vital. International students from countries all
over the world call the WNA “home” because of its committed faculty,
administration and diverse student body. WNA also gives students individualized
attention and support to improve their fluency in the English language.
West
Nottingham
Academy’s four dormitories offer grades 9
to 12 students a chance to live with roommates while sharing community
decisions and managing daily challenges. Almost 60% of the school’s students
live in the campus, enjoying the dorms’ lounge areas and internet equipped
rooms. The experience of learning and the real-life connection and socializing with
other students make life in this boarding school very much rewarding.
