Western Boarding Schools Association
MyBoardingSchool.com is a supporter of boarding school associations that establish standards which help produce a high-quality education for today's youth.
An association of 39 college preparatory schools throughout the Western US and Canada, the Western Boarding Schools Association supports and promotes the boarding school experience. Member schools have superior academic programs as well as many social activities for students; and surveys have shown that boarding school students have a better high school experience than do public and private day school students. In addition, they are better prepared for college, and tend to attend better colleges than day school students. Further, graduates of boarding schools are more likely to pursue advanced degrees.
It's almost universal that graduates of boarding schools do better in life and careers than other students, and alumni are well satisfied with their educational experience. Often, students develop deep friendships at boarding school that last a lifetime. Students at member schools develop a strong sense of community, self-reliance and responsibility.
The Association helps parents in search of a boarding school locate the best school for their child. Using their online School Finder, parents can search based on multiple desired criteria, including special programs that may be available. Further information can be obtained from the individual member schools. The application process is made easy through a standardized application. Parents often apply to more than one school using the common application form. Applying to more than one is encouraged, since all schools have limited spaces available, and a top choice may not be open.
The schools also offer a wide variety of exciting summer programs and summer camps.
Many of the schools that belong to the Western Boarding Schools Association are featured on MyBoardingSchool.com.
